Contemporary art museum

On the huge site of the Cité Internationale (84,000 m² between the Rhone and the Parc de la Tête d’Or), the Contemporary art museum overlooks a 14-theatre cinema complex. Designed by Renzo Piano, the building, which retained a 1930s facade overlooking the park (formerly of the Palais de la Foire de Lyon), is half in brick, half in glass, and leads to a pedestrian street.
A transparency unifying two periods, this twin-faced museum is a voluntarily hybrid, while the interior displays perfect unity and the public may pass through freely.
