1988-1989
:Creation of an inter-disciplinary Masters seminar in Fashion Studies. It is available to students attending Lyon 2 University (Masters ) and aims to facilitate the development of a partnership with the University of Fortaleza ( Brasil ).
1989-1990
: Creation of a higher university diploma in Fashion Studies ( DESS/Master level) during the academic year 1988-1989. Professionals from the world of fashion and creation take part in its development. They also form the greater part of the Scientific Commission.
1990-1991
:The higher university diploma in Fashion Studies is officially classed as a DESS(Masters) in Fashion Studies. Up until 1995 it was the only university diploma of its kind in the domain of fashion.

1993-1994
: The University of Fashion increased its educational potential as well as its cooperation with the professional sector via the creation of two university diplomas :
University Diploma in Fashion Studies and Research (DUERM). This diploma is available to those having obtained the French Baccalaureate and represents four further years of studies. This diploma is an initiation to research.
University Diploma in Clothing and Textile Creation (DUCTH)( Bachelor level). This professional diploma is available to those having obtained the French Baccalaureate and to holders of certain BTS or DUT, comprises a sandwich course spread over one year. The diploma was developed in collaboration with Roanne's Association for Development and Production ( Made up of Roanne's Chamber of Industry and Commerce, The Municipality of Roanne and The General Council of the Loire).
1994-1995
: The DESS in Fashion and Creation whose teaching staff are more and more in demand for seminars, symposiums and publications, is recognised both internationally and professionally due to :
The creation of a University of Fashion at Lodz Polytechnic ( Poland ) in collaboration with the University of Fashion at Lyon 2 as well as Lyon's Chamber of Commerce and Industry who participate in setting up the academic content and teaching of the course. The diploma certificate bears the inscriptions of both Lodz University and Lyon 2 Lumiere University.
The assignment of a post of Associated Professor reserved for a person working in the industry. The post is held by Ms Martine Le Herpeur ( 'Martine le Herpeur Style Consultant ' in Paris )
1996-1998
: The University of Fashion develops more international connections :
Turkey and Brazil are involved.
The organisation of an ITAA symposium (International Trade and Afforel Association)
In november 98, the University of Fashion takes part in the Florence Fashion Biennial
With the participation of the Lyon Chamber of Trade and Commerce, professionals and local organisations, the department of the University of Fashion and the Association for the University of Fashion, organise with and for the DESS students :
An annual program of conferences open to the public,
Study days organised in association with company representatives, university lecturers, representatives from the sectors of communication and creation as well as representatives from various other concerned sectors,
A specialised documentation and resource centre ( books, magazines, videos, studies and thesis ),
Publishing:as well as ' A Question of Fashion', the Association's newsletter, publications include Jerumine Savignon's book " L'Esprit Vionnet " and Malka Limondin's study entitled : " Silk ? Why not? "
Various events such as the ‘Grand Prix’ for Fashion Writing (with the support of Premiere Vision) or the exhibition at the La Croix-Laval Doll Museum of Barbie Dolls dressed by leading fashion designers.
