	in Fashion studies and Research

Aims

The University Diploma " Fashion Studies and Research ", created in the heart of the Institute of Communication at the UniversityLyon LumiËre 2, aims to fill the need for a university style complement to existing knowledge and training. The diploma has two potential publics in mind :

Students in initial training, already qualified at a level equivalent to Bac +3 and who wish to continue their education in a university context that includes an introduction in research.;

Those working in the domaines of fashion who, in order to validate their personnal and professional know-how, wish to continue their studies and undertake studies and research in relation with their particular field of activity.

The diploma offers a training frame-work that allows flexibility in relation to the specific profile of each student. It takes into account their previous training and/or experience and guarantees individual back up.

The diploma benefits from the infrastructure set up for the DESS in Fashion and Creation ( in particular the access to the documentation center and participation in conferences and other events).

The student then has the possibility of continuing studies in the DESS Fashion and Creation or of various openings in the professional domaine.

Admission
Admission to the University Diploma " Fashion Study and Research " is based exclusively on presentation of a dossier.

Level Required

Candidates for initial training : a diplome superior to Bac +3,

Candidates for further education : training and professional activitymust be accepted by the Board of Selection ( with the possibility of needing to successfully complete a test in a foreign language.).

Schooling

A thesis of study and research, the subject of which must be decided at the begining of the year with a director of research. (coefficient 8)

A bi-monthly seminar on economy, management and communication (coefficient 2 )

A weekly 2-hour long seminar (coefficient 2), to be chosen in consultation with the director of research of one of the following disciplines : literature and art, social science ( including semiology and communication), human sciences.

Bi-monthly teaching of a foreign language with the objective of producing a press book based on a subject concerning fashion. The outline of the press book must be set out at the begining of the year with the various teachers concerned.( coefficient 2)

The possibity of a training period ( maximum duration 6 months) to be chosen in consultation with the diploma's head of pedagogy.
